RECOMMENDATION(S):
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent, or designee, on behalf of the Public Works Director, to execute a purchase order amendment, with Cintas Fire Protection, to increase the payment limit by $100,000, to a new payment limit of $190,000, for fire extinguisher inspection and certification, and extend the purchase order term from April 1, 2010 through March 31, 2014.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Budgeted in the FY 2012/2013 Facilities Maintenance budget (100% General Fund).
BACKGROUND:
Public Works Fleet and Facilities Maintenance are responsible for fire extinguisher maintenance in County buildings and vehicles. Fire extinguishers must, by law, be inspected and certified annually. Public Works bid this as Bidsync #1002-001, and awarded Cintas Fire Protection. The original purchase order was for one year with four possible one year extensions. This request represents the second one year extension.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this agreement is not approved, then purchasing fire extinguisher inspection and certification from Cintas Fire Protection will discontinue.
