RECOMMENDATION(S):

Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Contract #26-684-1 with East Bay Medical Oncology Hematology Medical Associates, Inc. (dba Epic Care), a Corporation, in an amount not to exceed $720,000, to provide oncology services at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers, for the period from November 1, 2012 through October 31, 2015.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This Contract is funded 100% by Enterprise Fund I. Rate decrease.  

BACKGROUND:

On January 11, 2011 the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #26-684 with East Bay Medical Oncology Hematology Medical Associates, Inc. (dba Epic Care) to provide oncology services including consultation, training and medical and/or surgical procedures at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers, for the period from November 1, 2010 through October 31, 2012.

Approval of Contract 26-684-1 will allow the contractor to continue to provide oncology services at Contra Costa Regional Medical and Contra Costa Health Centers, through October 31, 2015.  

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this contract is not approved, patients requiring these medical services at Contra Costa Regional and Contra Costa Health Centers would have longer wait times and possibly go untreated.
