RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Public Works Director, or designee, to execute Amendment No. 2, effective August 31, 2012, to an existing Consulting Services Agreement with Ghirardelli Associates, Inc., to extend the termination date from August 31, 2012 through December 31, 2012, in order to provide construction management services for the Countywide Arterial Micro-Surface Project, Countywide. Project No. 0662-6R4066

FISCAL IMPACT:

No fiscal impact.

BACKGROUND:

On July 26, 2011, the Board of Supervisors approved the Consulting Services Agreement (CSA) with Ghirardelli Associates, Inc. to provide professional construction management services for the Countywide Arterial Micro-Surface Project. Construction management services are required for the construction of this project. Ghirardelli Associates, Inc. was selected to provide these services after completing a request for qualifications solicitation, County Outreach, and interview process. They have been assisting County staff by providing construction inspection, contract administration and resident engineer services.

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)

The proposed amendment will increase the term originally described in the Agreement and Amendment No. 1. This amendment is needed due to unanticipated project conditions which extended project completion and thus required additional project oversight by Ghirardelli Associates, Inc.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If the amendment is not approved, Ghirardelli Associates, Inc. cannot be paid for the additional work performed.
