RECOMMENDATION(S):

Adopt Position Adjustment Resolution No. 21209 to increase the hours of Exempt Medical Staff Dentist position #9013 from 32/40 to 36/40; increase the hours of Exempt Medical Staff Physician position #8235 from 34/40 to 40/40; increase the hours of Exempt Medical Staff Physician #8608 from 28/40 to 30/40; increase the hours of Exempt Medical Staff Physician #7283 from 32/40 to 40/40; and increase the hours of Exempt Medical Staff Physician #8614 from 28/40 to 40/40.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Upon approval, this action will result in an annual cost of approximately $193,421, including pension costs of $46,710, and will be fully funded by Medi-Cal and FQHC monies.

BACKGROUND:

The request to increase the hours of these five positions is in accordance with the agreement between the County and Physicians and Dentists of Contra Costa County (PDOCC) which states that, twice per year, permanent intermittent and permanent part-time employees may request that their position hours be increased. Approval is based on actual hours assigned to and worked by the employee during the previous six months, the anticipated continuing need for additional hours, and operational requirements. The Health Services Department has reviewed these requests and approved them based on this criteria.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this action is not approved, the Department will not have adequate staffing which could adversely impact patient care. Further, the Department would not be in compliance with the side letter agreement made with PDOCC.

CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:

Not applicable.
