RECOMMENDATION(S):

Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Contract Amendment Agreement #76-507-11 with Lee Shratter, M.D., a professional corporation, effective November 1, 2011, to amend Contract #76-507-10, to increase the payment limit by $38,000, from $576,000 to a new payment limit of $614,000, with no change in the original term of January 1, 2011 through December 31, 2013.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This amendment is funded 100% by Enterprise Fund I. No rate increase.

BACKGROUND:

On January 11, 2011, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #76-507-10 with Lee Shratter, M.D., to provide radiology services including, but not limited to, consultation, on-call coverage, supervision and interpretation of CT Scans, MRI, Ultrasounds, invasive procedures and plain films at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers, for the period from January 1, 2011 through December 31, 2013.

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)

Approval of Contract Amendment Agreement #76-507-11 will allow Contractor to provide additional hours of radiology services to cover during other radiologist absences and continue to providing services, through December 31, 2013.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this amendment is not approved, patients requiring these medical services would have longer wait times and possibly go untreated at Contra Costa Regional Medical and Contra Costa Health Centers.

CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:

Not applicable.
