RECOMMENDATION(S):

Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee to execute on behalf of the County, Contract #27-689-3 with East Bay Medical Oncology-Hematology Medical Associates, Inc., a corporation, in an amount not to exceed $900,000, to provide professional oncology/hematology services fto Contra Costa Health Plan members, for the period from December 1, 2011 through November 30, 2013.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This Contract is funded 100% by Contra Costa Health Plan (Health Plan) member premiums. Costs depend upon utilization. (No rate increase)











BACKGROUND:

The Health Plan has an obligation to provide certain specialized professional health care services for its members under the terms of their Individual and Group Health Plan membership contracts with the County. In February 2010, the County Administrator approved and the Purchasing Services Manager executed Contract #27-689-2 with East Bay Medical Oncology-Hematology Medical Associates, Inc. for the period from December 1, 2009 through November 30, 2011, to provide professional oncology/hematology services. Approval of Contract #27-689-3 will allow the Contractor to continue to provide professional oncology/hematology services to Health Plan member, through November 30, 2013.   

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this contract is not approved, certain specialized professional health care services for its members under the terms of their Individual and Group Health Plan membership contracts with the County will not be provided.
