RECOMMENDATION(S):

ADOPT Position Adjustment Resolution No. 21018 to add one (1) Accounting Technician (JD7A) (represented) position at salary level 3RX 1236 ($3,623-$4627) and cancel one (1) Airport Office Specialist (J9SG) (represented) vacant position #1664 in the Public Works Department.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Cost savings of approximately $7,700 annually (100% Airport Enterprise Fund).

BACKGROUND:

On March 31, 2011, the Airport Office Specialist retired from the Public Works-Airport Division and created a need to provide accounting clerical support at the Airport. The department has decided to downgrade the position from Airport Office Specialist to Accounting Technician. The higher level duties assigned to this position will be redistributed among airport staff. The incumbent of this position will be responsible for the preparation and processing of accounting documents and the maintenance of accounting records at the Airport.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If the position adjustment request to cancel the Airport Office Specialist position and add one Accounting Technician position is not approved, the Public Works Department will be unable to continue reorganizing and streamlining staffing levels for the upcoming merger.

CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:

No impact.
