Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Contract #26-596-7 with Pringl Miller, M.D., a self-employed individual, in an amount not to exceed $800,000, to provide general surgery services at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers, for the period from January 1, 2011 through December 31, 2012.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This Contract is funded 100% by Enterprise Fund I. No rate increase. Rates have changed from a monthly rate to a fee for services rate.

BACKGROUND:

On July 27, 2009, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #26-596-4 (as amended by Amendment Agreement #26-596-5) with Pringl Miller, M.D. for the period from August 1, 2009 through July 31, 2011, for the provision of general surgery services including consultation, training, on-call, medical and/or surgical procedures, and clinic coverage, for patients at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers. On August 3, 2010, the Board of Supervisors approved termination of Contract #26-596-4, as amended, to allow the County to re-negotiate the payment provisions to fee for service rate.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
