RECOMMENDATION(S):

PRESENTATION to recognize the Contra Costa County Department of Child Support Services (DCSS) receiving the Child Support Director’s Association (CSDA) Outstanding Program Award, CSDA Outstanding Group Achievement Award, and National Child Support Enforcement Association (NCSEA) Innovative Collaboration & Partnership Collaboration Award.  

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is no fiscal impact for this action.

BACKGROUND:

Annually, the child support community recognizes best practices and outstanding programs via its awards process. In 2022, the CSDA recognized Contra Costa County Department of Child Support Services for its consistent efforts in providing quality child support services to its constituency and its community with the Outstanding Program Award. The CSDA also awarded the Outstanding Group Achievement Award to Contra Costa County DCSS Smith/Ostler team for its efforts to ensure that families receive all the support they are entitled to.   
Additionally, the NCSEA recognized Contra Costa County DCSS for innovation in partnership with Rubicon Programs.  

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this action were not approved, the County may not hear about the exemplary efforts of the Department of Child Support Services.

CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:

The recommendation supports the following children's outcomes: (1) Children Ready for and Succeeding in School; (2) Children and Youth Healthy and Preparing for Productive Adulthood; and (3) Families that are Economically Self Sufficient.
