RECOMMENDATION(S):

AUTHORIZE the Fire Chief, or designee, to execute a Memorandum of Understanding with the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District for reimbursement of expenses related to Phase I of the Annexation Feasibility Study.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Approving the Memorandum of Understanding with East Contra Costa Fire Protection District will provide for $10,000 in reimbursement for Phase I of the study.

BACKGROUND:

The District, in cooperation with the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District and the Rodeo-Hercules Fire Protection District, is studying the feasibility of annexation of one, or both, fire districts into the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District. Phase I of this study is a fiscal analysis of the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District, and that portion of the study should be completed by mid-November 2020. This Memorandum of Understanding provides for reimbursement of $10,000 by the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District for their share of the cost for Phase I of the study.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If the Memorandum of Understanding is not approved, there will be no reimbursement for a portion of the annexation study, and the entire cost of the study will be funded solely by the District.
