RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Health Services Director, or designee, to execute, on behalf of the County Contract #26-437-14 with Stericycle, Inc., a corporation, in an amount not to exceed $384,000 for the provision of hazardous waste management services at the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center (CCRMC) and Health Centers, for the period July 1, 2020 through June 30, 2021.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This contract is funded 100% by Hospital Enterprise Fund I.

BACKGROUND:

On June 6, 2017, the Board of Supervisors approved Contact #26-437-10 (as amended by Amendment Agreements #26-437-11 through #26-437-13) with Stericycle, Inc., to provide bio-hazardous waste management removal services for CCRMC and Health Center locations, for the period from April 1, 2017 through June 30, 2020.

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)

Approval of Contract #26-437-14 will allow the Contractor to continue providing services through June 30, 2021.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this contract is not approved, CCRMC and Health Centers would not be in compliance with Health and Safety Codes with regard to bio-hazardous waste management and removal.
