RECOMMENDATION(S):

REFER to the Public Protection Committee the matter of a Draft Racial Equity Plan for 2019-2024.

FISCAL IMPACT:

No fiscal impact. This action refers the matter to the Public Protection Committee for their consideration and action.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

The Draft REAP will not be referred to the Public Protection Committee for review.

BACKGROUND:

Contra Costa County staff have participated in the Government Alliance on Race & Equity (GARE) since 2016, working diligently towards developing and achieving racial equity outcomes in Contra Costa County. This participation has resulted in the development of a Draft Racial Equity Action Plan (REAP). This referral is requested for the Public Protection Committee to review the Draft REAP and provide further direction to staff.
