RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Health Services Director, or designee, to execute on behalf of the County Contract #24-403-21 with Jon Whalen, M.D., an individual, in an amount not to exceed $360,960, to provide outpatient psychiatric services to minors for the period February 1, 2020 through January 31, 2021.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This Contract is funded 50% Mental Health Realignment Funds and 50% Federal Medi-Cal. (No Rate increase)

BACKGROUND:

On January 15, 2019, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #24-403-20 with Jon Whalen, M.D., to provide outpatient psychiatric services, including diagnosing, counseling, evaluation, and medical and therapeutic treatment and consulting and training in medical and therapeutic matters to minors, for the period February 1, 2019 through January 31, 2020.

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)

Approval of Contract #24-403-21 will allow Contractor to continue providing outpatient psychiatric services to minors through January 31, 2021.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this contract is not approved, County’s clients will not have access to Contractor’s outpatient psychiatric services.
