RECOMMENDATION(S):

Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Unpaid Student Training Agreement #26-568-1 with The Regents of the University of California, Berkeley, a California Constitutional corporation, to provide supervised field instruction at the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Health Centers to dietician students, for the period from October 1, 2017 through September 30, 2020.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:




BACKGROUND:

The purpose of this agreement is to provide The Regents of the University of California, Berkeley dietetic students with the opportunity to integrate academic knowledge with applied skills at progressively higher levels of performance and responsibility. Supervised fieldwork experience for students is considered to be an integral part of both educational and professional preparation. The Health Services Department can provide the requisite field education, while at the same time, benefiting from the students’ services to patients.  
  
Approval of Unpaid Student Training Agreement #26-568-1 will allow The Regents of the University of California, Berkeley students to receive supervised fieldwork instruction experience, at the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Health Centers, through September 30, 2020.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: (CONT'D)
If this agreement is not approved, the students will not receive supervised fieldwork instruction experience at the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Health Centers.
