RECOMMENDATION(S):

PRESENTATION recognizing Firefighter-Paramedic Vincent Aiello as the 2015 Firefighter of the Year.

FISCAL IMPACT:

No fiscal impact.

BACKGROUND:

There are many members of the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District who embody its core values: Service, Teamwork, Professionalism, Leadership, Safety and Preparedness, and Integrity. In recognition of the outstanding and unwavering work performed and values exemplified, the District annually solicits nominations for Firefighter of the Year.

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)

There were no shortage of nominees this year, all distinguished and deserving, and ideally we would recognize all of them.

Firefighter-Paramedic Vincent Aiello was ultimately selected to represent the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District as the 2015 Firefighter of the Year. There were several factors that supported his selection. Some of the traits that stand out most are Vince's professionalism, work ethic, and his mentorship of probationary firefighters. We are happy to be joined by the Knights of Columbus to honor Vincent Aiello as our 2015 Firefighter of the Year.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

The presentation of Firefighter of the Year will not be made by the Board.
