BACKGROUND:
Pursuant to a 1998 Resource Conservation District (RCD) resolution ordering that all future directors shall be appointed by the County Board of Supervisors in lieu of election (Public Resources Code Section 9314), the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors makes appointments to the RCD. The RCD is a state legislated special district whose mission is to carry out natural resources conservation projects through voluntary and cooperative efforts. The RCD is a non-regulatory agency that works with individuals, growers, ranchers, public agencies, non-profit organizations and corporations to accomplish its mission. The USDA Natural Resource Conservation Service provides technical support for the RCD's programs. On November 30, 2022, the terms of office for two of the five RCD Director seats will expire: Directors 2 and 5. The RCD Board of Directors adopted Resolutions 2022-12a and 2022-12b recommending the reappointment of Bethallyn Black and Walter Pease.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
The seats will not be filled.
