BACKGROUND:

Beginning on August 22, 2020, emergency events including significant fires in Solano, Butte, Napa and Santa Cruz Counties was declared. On August 22, 2020, a Presidential Declaration of Emergency was issued by President Donald J. Trump. Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff provided law enforcement mutual aid to the Counties of Solano, Butte, Napa and Santa Cruz. Federal and State funds are now available for reimbursement of actual costs associated with providing mutual aid services. In order for the Office of the Sheriff to participate in the cost recovery program, the Federal Emergency Management Agency requires all affected counties to enter into a Memorandum of Agreements with those entities that provided mutual aid during the disaster. Approval of the MOAs will enable the Office of the Sheriff to participate in the cost recovery program for the Counties of Solano, Butte, Napa, Santa Cruz and any other future Counties mutual aid responses.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

The Office of the Sheriff will be unable to apply for reimbursement of costs associated with the mutual aid response.
