RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment and Human Services Director, or designee, on behalf of the Workforce Development Board, Small Business Development Center, to apply for and accept grant funding in an amount not to exceed $10,000 from the Opus Community Foundation to identify, outreach to, and provide small business development advising and group training to low-to-moderate income County residents for the period January 1, 2019 through December 31, 2019.

FISCAL IMPACT:

County to receive an amount not to exceed $10,000 from the Opus Community Foundation Grant. No County match is required.

BACKGROUND:

The Workforce Development Board of Contra Costa, Small Business Development Center, will offer no-cost group workshops and individual, confidential one-on-one advising for existing businesses and start-up businesses with the potential for job creation, revenue development, and growth, which stimulates economic development in the County.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

Without funding, services of the Workforce Development Board, Small Business Development Center could not be delivered or expended to business owners or potential owners throughout the County.
