RECOMMENDATION(S):

Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Contract #27-918-2 with Gupta Etwaru, M.D. (DBA Etwaru Eye Center), a corporation, in an amount not to exceed $800,000, to provide ophthalmology services for Contra Costa Health Plan members for the period from October 1, 2017 through September 30, 2019.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This contract is funded 100% by Contra Costa Health Plan Enterprise Fund II.

BACKGROUND:

In September 2015, the County Administrator approved, and the Purchasing Services Manager executed Contract #27-918-1 with Gupta Etwaru, M.D., for the provision of ophthalmology services for Contra Costa Health Plan members, for the period from October 1, 2015 through September 30, 2017.

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)

Approval of Contract #27-918-2 will allow the contractor to continue providing ophthalmology services through September 30, 2019.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this contract is not approved, Contra Costa Health Plan members will not receive the benefits of ophthalmology services from the contractor.
