RECOMMENDATION(S):

Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Contract #74-527-1 with Carlos M. Zapata, M.D., an individual, in an amount not to exceed $174,720, to provide outpatient psychiatric care to mentally ill adults in Central County, for the period from December 1, 2017 through November 30, 2018.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This contract is funded 100% by Mental Health Realignment. (No rate increase)

BACKGROUND:

On December 13, 2016, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #74–527 with Carlos Zapata, M.D. for the provision of outpatient psychiatric care, including diagnosing, counseling, evaluating, and providing medical and therapeutic treatment for mentally ill adults in Central Contra Costa County, for the period December 1, 2016 through November 30, 2017.

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)

Approval of Contract #74-527-1 will allow the contractor to continue providing services through November 30, 2018.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this contract is not approved, patients requiring outpatient psychiatric care will not have access to the contractor’s services.
