BACKGROUND:

The Advisory Council on Aging provides a means for county-wide planning, cooperation and coordination for individuals and groups interested in improving and developing services and opportunities for the older residents of Contra Costa County. The Council provides leadership and advocacy on behalf of older persons and serves as a channel of communication and information on aging.

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)

The Council consists of 40 members serving two year staggered terms each ending on September 30. Members are from the target population and the general public, including older low-income and military persons, and at least one-half of the membership must be made up of actual consumers of services under the Area Plan.

There are currently eight vacancies and the Council is recommending the reappointment of the following individuals: Fred Adams, Summer Selleck, Sheri Richards, Rita Xavier, Mary Bruns, Robert Leasure, and Susan Frederick. The Family and Human Services Committee reviewed and approved the recommendations at their August 28, 2017 meeting.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

The seats will remain vacant.
