RECOMMENDATION(S):

Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Contract #74-433-8 with Michael Levin, M.D., an individual, in an amount not to exceed $252,600, to provide outpatient psychiatric services in Central County Adult Mental Health Clinics, and expert testimony in Lanterman Petris Short (LPS) conservatorship trials, for the period from January 1, 2018 through December 31, 2018.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This contract is funded 100% by Mental Health Realignment funding. (No rate increase)

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:





BACKGROUND:

On November 8, 2016, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #74-433-7 with Michael Levin, M.D. for the provision of outpatient psychiatric services, including: diagnosing, counseling, evaluating, medical and therapeutic treatment, consulting, training clinical staff, and expert testimony in LPS conservatorship trials, for the period from January 1, 2017 through December 31, 2017.  
  
Approval of Contract #74-433-8 will allow the contractor to continue to provide outpatient psychiatric services at the Central County Adult Mental Health Clinic and present expert psychiatric testimony in LPS conservatorship trials, through December 31, 2018.  

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: (CONT'D)
If this contract is not approved, County’s clients will not have access to the contractor’s outpatient psychiatric or LPS conservatorship services.
