RECOMMENDATION(S):

PRESENTATION recognizing Captain Dan McClellan as the 2016 Firefighter of the Year.

FISCAL IMPACT:

BACKGROUND:

Many members of the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District embody the District's core values which are Service, Teamwork, Professionalism, Leadership, Safety and Preparedness, and Integrity. In recognition of consistently outstanding work performance and demonstration of core values, the District annually solicits nominations for Firefighter of the Year.

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)

Of all the distinguished and deserving members who were nominated, Captain Dan McClellan was ultimately chosen to represent the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District as the 2016 Firefighter of the Year. Several factors, including his professionalism and work ethic, support the selection of Captain McClellan, who celebrated 25 years with the District on January 6 of this year. Captain McClellan is one of the District's tiller truck instructors and the program manager for the District's Hazardous Materials Team. He is also a member of California Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) Task Force 4 and was recently deployed to Florida in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma.
