RECOMMENDATION(S):

Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Contract #26-701-12 with Medicus Emergency Room Medicine Services West, LLC, a limited liability company, in an amount not to exceed $275,000, to provide temporary physician services for the Emergency Department at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Health Centers (CCRMC), for the period from August 1, 2016 through July 31, 2017.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Funding for this Contract is 100% Hospital Enterprise Fund I. (No rate increase)

BACKGROUND:

On August 18, 2015, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #26-701-11 with Medicus Emergency Room Medicine Services West, LLC, for the period from August 1, 2015 through July 31, 2016, for the provision of temporary physicians to cover during vacation, sick leave, and extended leave relief for County-employed physicians in the Emergency Department at CCRMC. Approval of Contract #26-701-12 will allow the Contractor to continue to provide temporary physician services for the Emergency Department at CCRMC, through July 31, 2017.



CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this contract is not approved, patients in the Emergency Department will not have access to Contractor’s services.
