RECOMMENDATION(S):

Approve and authorize the Purchasing Agent, on behalf of the Health Services Department, to execute a Purchase Order with GroupWare Technology, Inc. in an amount not to exceed $230,000 for purchase of UCS/Cisco blade servers and hardware for the period October 1, 2016 through September 30, 2017.

FISCAL IMPACT:

100% Funding is included in the Hospital Enterprise Fund I budget.

BACKGROUND:

Health Services’ Electronic Medical Record System (ccLink/Epic) is delivered by an internal cloud. The hardware that hosts the cloud platform consists of Cisco blade servers which are now outdated and will no longer be eligible for maintenance and support at the end of this calendar year.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

Current hardware will no longer be eligible for maintenance and support at the end of the calendar year. Because this hardware hosts the cloud platform for Health Services’ Electronic Medical Record System, failure to purchase new hardware can negatively impact the patient medical records system.
