RECOMMENDATION(S):

Approve and Authorize the Purchasing Agent, on behalf of the Health Services Department, to execute an amendment to Purchase Order #F50112 with Johnson & Johnson Healthcare Systems, Inc., to add $55,000 for a new total of $205,000 for reagents and supplies at the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers, with no change in the original term of November 15, 2013 to November 14, 2015.

FISCAL IMPACT:

100% funding is included in the Hospital Enterprise Fund I Budget.

BACKGROUND:

Johnson & Johnson Healthcare Systems, Inc. has Ortho reagents and Micro Typing System cards that can only be used on their centrifuges and incubators. The purpose of these products in Blood Bank is to do blood types and cross match units of blood for transfusion and other surgical procedure.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this Purchase Order is not approved, the CCRMC Clinical Laboratory will not be able to perform patient testing without the requested supplies and reagents.
