RECOMMENDATION(S):

ADOPT Position Resolution No. 21408 increasing the hours of vacant Public Health Nurse (VVXA) position #8442 at salary level QT 1832 ($6,852 - $9,215) from 32/40 to 40/40 in the Health Services Department. (Represented)

FISCAL IMPACT:

Upon approval, this action has an annual cost of approximately $32,510, with $7,852 in pension costs, which is included in the California Children's Services Fiscal Year 2013-2014 State budget.

BACKGROUND:

The Health Services Department is requesting to increase the hours of vacant Public Health Nurse position #8442 from 32/40 to 40/40 in the Health Services Department. This action is necessary to better meet the needs of the growing California Children Services (CCS) caseload. This position is assigned to work onsite at Children's Hospital Oakland to support familes and providers in understanding and accessing CCS program services.  




BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
  
There is an annual cost of approximately $32,510, which is allocated in the CCS fiscal year 2013-2014 State budget.  

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this action is not approved, there is not adequate staff hours to meet the needs of the California Children's Services program.
