RECOMMENDATION(S):

Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Contract Extension Agreement #26-750-1 with University of San Francisco, School of Nursing and Health Professions, an educational institution, to extend the term from December 31, 2013 through December 31, 2016.

FISCAL IMPACT:

None

BACKGROUND:

On September 24, 2013, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #26-750, with University of San Francisco, School of Nursing and Health Professions, for the provision of field instruction in the Health Services Department for the Contractor’s registered nurse students, for the period from July 1, 2013 through December 31, 2013.  
  
Approval of Contract Extension Agreement #26-750-1 will allow the Contractor’s registered nurse students to receive field instruction in the Health Services Department through December 31, 2016.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this extension is not approved, the students will not receive supervised fieldwork instruction experience at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers.
