BACKGROUND:

Established on April 18, 1972, by Resolution Number 72/257, the purpose of the the County Service Area P-5 Citizen Advisory Committee is to act as a liaison between the citizens of the P-5 Police District and the Office of the Sheriff of Contra Costa County by:

• Advising the Board of Supervisors and the Office of the Sheriff of the community's needs and desires regarding police protection;
• Promoting public safety in the areas of home safety, traffic safety, vacation security and crime prevention through the neighborhood watch program; and
• Maintaining oversight of expenditures of the public funds accruing to the P-5 Police District.

The Board of Supervisors established a permanent Roundhill Enterprises Seat of the CSA P-5 CAC on August 16, 1977. The Roundhill representative is selected by Roundhill Enterprises and recommended for appointment by the District Supervisor representing the area. There is no need to leave the seat vacant or advertise this seat through the Clerk of the Board's normal procedures.

Supervisor Andersen solicited application through public postings, met with all applicants and is pleased to make this recommendation.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

Four seats on the CSA P-5 CAC will be vacant.
