BACKGROUND:

On June 5, 2012, the Board approved and authorized the submission of the 2013 Head Start Re-competition grant application to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Children and Families (ACF) to continue the provision of Head Start services in Contra Costa County. The grant included the plan submitted by the County's Head Start Delegate Agency, First Baptist Church of Pittsburg, California. ACF informed the County on July 20, 2012, that it will issue a 6-month contract extension of the 2012 operating grant, pending notification of 2013 grant award. The application for extension of the budget period was approved by the Board on September 11, 2012. Approval of this contract with First Baptist Church of Pittsburg, California will allow for continued Head Start Delegate Agency services in the 2013 program year. This board order seeks approval to extend the 2012 Delegate Agency contract for 6 months, in alignment with the 6-month Head Start Grantee extension provided by ACF and approved by the Board on September 11, 2012.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If not approved, contract will not be executed.
