BACKGROUND:

Effective September 20, 2012, the Bethel Island Improvement District Board of Directors had one vacancy. The deadline for the District to fill the vacancy was November 19, 2012, and the District did not fill the vacancy.

In accordance with Government Code 1780, the Board of Supervisors may appoint an individual to fill the vacancy when the District has not done so, or may order the District to call a Special Election to fill the vacancy.

The vacancy was posted by the Clerk of the Board on December 13, 2012 and one application was received, Dann Myers.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If the appointment is not made and the District has to hold a Special Election, the costs would surpass their annual budget.
