RECOMMENDATION(S):

Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Contract Amendment Agreement #23-391-9 with Laura Swafford, self-employed individual, effective November 1, 2012, to amend Contract #23-391-8, to increase the payment limit by $200,000, from $95,000 to a new payment limit of $295,000, with no change in the original term of July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2013.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This amendment is funded 100% by Enterprise I Budget. (No rate increase)

BACKGROUND:

In October 2012, County Administrator approved and Purchasing Services Manager executed Contract #23-391-8 with Laura Swafford for the period from July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2013, for the provision of consultation and technical assistance to the Department with regard to development of a strategic communications plan for the Epic Electronic Health Record System.

Approval of Contract Amendment Agreement #23-391-9 will allow the Contractor to provide additional hours of consultation and technical assistance to the Department with regard to Keane Patcom System and the Epic Electronic Health Records Project, through June 30, 2013.   

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this amendment is not approved, the Contractor will not be able to provide additional hours of expert services with regard to the Electronic Health Record Systems.
