RECOMMENDATION(S):

ADOPT Position Adjustment Resolution No. 21213 to add one (1) Deputy Sheriff-40 Hour (6XWA) (represented) position at salary level VHX 1688 ($5,298 - $6,600) in the Sheriff's Field Operations Bureau- Investigations Division.

FISCAL IMPACT:

$214,063. Paid by the Local Law Enforcement Services Account (LLESA).

BACKGROUND:

The Office of the Sheriff will add one deputy position to the Field Operations Bureau – Investigations Division for the West-Net Task Force (WNET), a major crimes task force. Funding from grants that were administered by the Cal Emergency Management Agency (Cal EMA) and supported by the Local Safety and Protection Account (LSPA) were issued to the State Controller for 2011-12 and deposited into the Local Law Enforcement Services Account (LLESA). The Deputy position for WNET will be funded from the Local Law Enforcement Services Account.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this request in not approved, the Field Operations Bureau will not have the appropriate staffing levels for the West-Net Task Force (WNET).
