RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Risk Manager to execute a contract with Frankel & Goldware, LLP for defense of the County in claims for the period from January 1, 2013 through January 31, 2014 in accordance with a specified fee schedule. (100% Internal Service Trust Funds)

FISCAL IMPACT:

Legal costs are funded through the Workers’ Compensation, Liability, and Medical Malpractice Internal Trust Funds.

BACKGROUND:

Frankel & Goldware, LLP has experience and expertise in Americans with Disabilities (ADA) Act cases to assist in complex ADA matters.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

The County will be without an attorney with experience in complex ADA matters.
