RECOMMENDATION(S):

Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Contract Amendment Agreement #26-682-2 with Brian P. Hauck, M.D., a self-employed individual, effective October 1, 2012, to increase the payment limit by $20,000, from $390,000 to a new payment limit of $410,000 with no change in term of January 1, 2011 through December 31, 2013.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This amendment is funded 100% by Enterprise Fund I. Cost to the County depends upon utilization. As appropriate, patients and/or third party payors will be billed for services. (No rate increase)

BACKGROUND:

On January 11, 2011, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #26-682 with Brian P. Hauck, M.D.,

for the period from January 1, 2011 through December 31, 2013, for the provision of gastroenterology services for patients at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers.

Approval of Contract Amendment Agreement #26-682-2 will allow the Contractor to provide additional hours of gastroenterology services due to another Gastroenterologist’s reduction in hours through December 31, 2013.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this amendment is not approved, Contractor will not be able to provide additional gastroenterology services. Therefore, patients would have longer wait times and possibly go untreated.
