RECOMMENDATION(S):

DECLARE vacant the District I seat on the Contra Costa Commission for Women due to resignation and DIRECT the Clerk of the Board to post the vacancy, as recommended by Supervisor Gioia.

FISCAL IMPACT:

No fiscal impact.

BACKGROUND:

The Contra Costa Commission for Women was established on February 28, 1989 to identify major economic, educational and social concerns of women in Contra Costa County, to reach and inform all women on a variety of issues.

The Commission consists of twenty-six members, one from each Supervisorial District, twenty at-large.  
  
Cecilia Valdez has notified the office that resigned for personal reasons. Therefore, the seat should be declared vacant.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

The seat will not be available to be filled with a willing candidate.
