RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment and Human Services Director, or designee, to execute a contract amendment, effective December 1, 2012, with the Pittsburg Power Company, for additional case management and job placement services, increasing the contract amount by $150,000 for a total contract amount not to exceed $245,000 and extend the term of the contract from January 31, 2013 to June 30, 2013.

FISCAL IMPACT:

$245,000; 100% Federal Workforce Investment Act (WIA) Adult Funding

BACKGROUND:

This Board Order will authorize the Employment and Human Services Department, on behalf of the Workforce Development Board, to increase the contract payment limit to the Pittsburg Power Company by $150,000, from $95,000 to a new contract payment limit of $245,000 and extend the contract term from January 31, 2013, to a new contract term through June 30, 2013. The amendment will allow additional WIA Adult services including case management, employment referrals, and job placement services for adult participants.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

Without the extension of the contract term and increase in the total contract amount, additional adult participants will not receive case management, employment referrals, and job placement services.

CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:

This contract supports all five of the community outcomes established in the Children’s Report Card: 1) “Children Ready for and Succeeding in School”; 2) “Children and Youth Healthy and Preparing for Productive Adulthood”; 3) “Families that are Economically Self Sufficient”; 4) “Families that are Safe, Stable and Nurturing”; and 5) “Communities that are Safe and Provide a High Quality of Life for Children and Families,” by assisting individuals with training and employment services to encourage self-sufficiency.
