RECOMMENDATION(S):

Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Contract Amendment Agreement #74-429-1 with Roobal Sekhon, M.D., to amend Contract #74-429, effective December 1, 2011, to increase the total Payment Limit by $36,000 from $234,000 to a new total payment limit of $270,000 with no change in the original term of August 1, 2011 through July 31, 2012.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This Contract is funded 87% by Mental Health Realignment and 13% Enterprise Fund I. Cost to the County depends upon utilization. As appropriate, patients and/or third party payors will be billed for services. No increase in rates.

BACKGROUND:

For a number of years the County has contracted with Medical, Dental and Mental Health Specialists to provide specialized professional services, which are not otherwise available.

On August 9, 2011 the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #74-429 with Roobal Sekhon, M.D. to provide geriatric psychiatric services for seriously and persistently mentally ill older adults at the County’s Adult Mental Health Clinics, for the period from August 1, 2011 through July 31, 2012.
Approval of Contract Amendment Agreement #74-429-1 will amend the contract and allow the Contractor to provide additional psychiatric services to include sleep studies at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers, through July 31, 2012.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this contract is not approved, County’s clients will not have access to Contractor’s professional outpatient psychiatric services.
