RECOMMENDATION(S):

Adopt Position Adjustment Resolution No. 21037 to add one 40/40 Board of Supervisors Assistant - Specialist position (J994) unrepresented at salary level B85 1652 ($5333.72 - $5600.40) and cancel two vacant 20/40 Board of Supervisors Assistant - General Office (J992) positions #14572 and #14573 in the District V Board of Supervisors Office.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This action reverses the action of October 11, 2011 and upgrades the position to a Specialist level. The annual increased cost is approximately $20,000 depending upon benefit selection/enrollment. The current year impact is estimated to be $10,000 and will be covered with salary savings.

BACKGROUND:

On July 26, 2011, the Board of Supervisors approved Map Proposal 17D Amended on a 3-2 vote as the proposed new supervisorial district boundaries. On August 9, 2011, the Board of Supervisors approved Ordinance No. 2011-15, establishing the proposed boundaries and set the effective date at September 9, 2011.

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)

These new supervisorial district boundaries have resulted in a dramatic geographic change for District V. As a result of the realignment, the Supervisor's staffing needs require adjustment.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

The District V Office will not have the staffing allocation necessary to meet the needs of their constituents.

CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:

No Impact.
