RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent, on behalf of the Public Works Department, to execute a Purchase Order with Coast Counties Truck & Equipment, in an amount not to exceed $75,000, for the purchase of a low bed equipment trailer for Public Works Road Maintenance, Countywide. (Project No. 0672-6U2008) (100% Local Road funds)

FISCAL IMPACT:

100% Local Road Funds.

BACKGROUND:

The purchase of this equipment will enable the Maintenance Division staff to transport the larger equipment in their fleet instead of using outside vendors and will increase efficiency by having the ability to transport multiple pieces of equipment on the trailer at the same time.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

Not having this piece of equipment will require the Department to continue using outside vendors when transporting large equipment and not allow potential efficiencies of transporting multiple pieces of equipment on the same trailer.
