RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Sheriff-Coroner, or designee, to execute a non-exclusive, non-financial contract with Golden Gate University to provide reduced-cost University educational services to Department employees and permit mutual use of University and Office of the Sheriff names and logos in literature that promotes this program to Department employees, for the two-year period effective with contract execution and automatically renewing for an additional two years unless canceled by either party.

FISCAL IMPACT:

No fiscal impact. The Office of the Sheriff will be responsible for all costs arising from or related to its actions under this Agreement and no additional general funds will be required.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

BACKGROUND:

During the term of the Agreement, the Office of the Sheriff will list Golden Gate University as a non-exclusive educational provider for Sheriff's Office employees in print materials used for recruiting and intranet site as applicable. Sheriff's Office employees will receive an application fee waiver and tuition rate at ninety percent (90%) of the prevailing tuition rate. This Agreement will provide an opportunity for Sheriff's Office employees to obtain higher education and, in return, increase their contribution to the success of the Office of the Sheriff.
