RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent to execute, on behalf of the Sheriff-Coroner, a purchase order with Allen Packaging Company in the amount of $125,000 to provide three-compartment trays for Seal-a-Meal food to be used at the West County, Martinez, and Marsh Creek Detention Facilities for the period January 1 through December 31, 2012.

FISCAL IMPACT:

$125,000; 100% County General Fund, Budgeted.

BACKGROUND:

Allen Packaging provides packaging equipment and supplies used for the "Seal-a-Meal" food production system located at the West County Detention Facility (WCDF). The production kitchen provides food for all adult detention facilities and
two homeless shelters. This central production system at WCDF has increased efficiency and substantially reduced costs associated with delivering meal services to inmates.
