RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Sheriff-Coroner, or designee, to execute a contract amendment with Robert Half International, Inc. (dba Accountemps), to increase the payment limit by $70,000 to a new payment limit of $166,600 and extend the contract termination date from December 31, 2011 to December 31, 2012 for continuing temporary accounting services, with no change to the existing modified indemnification language.

FISCAL IMPACT:

$70,000; 100% County General Fund; Budgeted.

BACKGROUND:

The Office of the Sheriff is requesting an amendment to the contract with Accountemps for temporary accounting work to accommodate additional service hours necessary for the completion of projects and to assist with a backlog of work due to vacancies in the Sheriff's Fiscal Division. The Office of the Sheriff and the Public Works Department have worked with Accountemps through County Counsel to develop standardized contract language for temporary, accounting services. This contract includes modified indemnification language.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

The Sheriff's Fiscal Unit will not be able to keep up with workload.

CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:

No impact.
