RECOMMENDATION(S):

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the County Probation Officer, or designee, to execute a contract with the State of California, Office of Traffic Safety, to accept a $150,000 grant for the specialized supervision of Driving Under the Influence offenders for the period October 1, 2011 through September 30, 2012.

FISCAL IMPACT:

The $150,000 grant is 100% State revenue, with no County match. The grant will fund one Deputy Probation Officer position, and fund costs for alcohol testing supplies and officer training.

BACKGROUND:

The purpose of this grant project is to protect public safety, and reduce DUI recidivism by intensively supervising felony DUI offenders.
