RECOMMENDATION(S):

Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee (Donna Wigand), to execute, on behalf of the County, Contract #74–415 with Vivian Sun, M.D., a self-employed individual, in an amount not to exceed $130,000 to provide professional outpatient psychiatric services, for the period from January 1, 2011 through December 31, 2011.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This Contract is funded 100% by Mental Health Realignment, offset by third-party billing.

BACKGROUND:

For a number of years the County has contracted with Medical, Dental and Mental Health Specialists to provide specialized professional services, which are not otherwise available.

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)

Under Contract #74-415, the Contractor will provide professional outpatient psychiatric services for adults in Central Contra Costa County, through December 31, 2011.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this contract is not approved, the County’s Central Adult Mental Health Clinic would not have appropriate psychiatric coverage and mental ill adults would go untreated.
