RECOMMENDATION(S):

Approve and authorize the Purchasing Agent, on behalf of the Health Services Department, to execute a purchase order with Olympus America to purchase a new Olympus GI Endoscopy Tower consisting of 2 Video Colonoscopes, 2 Video Gastroscopes, 1 Light Source, 1 Video System Center, 1 Color Printer, 1 LCD Monitor and accessories for Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers.

FISCAL IMPACT:

The total cost is $176,179.68 including tax, funded in Enterprise Fund I.

BACKGROUND:

Due to the increasing number of GI endoscopy cases and the backlog we are currently experiencing, new Gastroenterology doctors have been hired by HSD to run an additional GI Endoscopy Room in the Surgery Dept. The purchase of a new GI Endoscopy Tower and new Endoscopes will allow the new doctors to provide diagnostic and therapeutic care to their GI patients. The Olympus Endoscopy Videoscopes, Video Processor, Light Source and Printer which are contained in the tower, will allow doctors to view a live image, on a video monitor, of a patients’ upper and lower gastrointestinal tract.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this contract is not approved, the CCRMC Surgery Department will not be able to provide adequate care to their patients.

CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:

Not applicable.
