BACKGROUND:
The Department is submitting an application to California Head Start Association on January 10, 2011 to apply for a Head Start Garden project wherein selected Head Start sites will receive supplies to install a fruit and vegetable garden, raised bed kit, irrigation kit, children's garden tools, markers and seeds.
Approval of this grant application will allow for the application submission, and if awarded, receipt of funds to implement this project.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If not approved, funds will not be accepted.
CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:
The Employment & Human Services Department Community Services Bureau supports three of Contra Costa County’s community outcomes - Outcome 1: “Children Ready for and Succeeding in School,” Outcome 3: “Families that are Economically Self-sufficient,” and, Outcome 4: “Families that are Safe, Stable, and Nurturing.” These outcomes are achieved by offering comprehensive services, including high quality early childhood education, nutrition, and health services to low-income children throughout Contra Costa County.
