RECOMMENDATION(S):

Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee (Patricia Tanquary) to execute on behalf of the County, Contract #27-570-4 with Brian Blaisch, MD (dba Oakland Pediatrics and Behavioral Medicine), a professional corporation, in an amount not to exceed $120,000, to provide professional pediatric primary care services for the Contra Costa Health Plan for the period from January 1, 2011 through December 31, 2012.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This Contract is funded 100% by Contra Costa Health Plan (Health Plan) member premiums. Costs depend upon utilization. (No rate increase)

BACKGROUND:

The Health Plan has an obligation to provide certain specialized professional health care services for its members under the terms of their Individual and Group Health Plan membership contracts with the County. On January 13, 2009, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #27-570-3 with Brian Blaisch, MD (dba Oakland Pediatrics and Behavioral Medicine), for the period from January 1, 2009 through December 31, 2010, to provide pediatric primary care services.

Approval of Contract #27-570-4 will allow the Contractor to continue to provide pediatric primary care services through December 31, 2012.   

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this contract is not approved, certain specialized professional health care services for its members under the terms of their Individual and Group Health Plan membership contracts with the County will not be provided.
