The Contra Costa County, Public Health Department maintains a TB Control Program, which serves all reported TB patients and their contacts in Contra Costa County. Outreach services are provided to reach the “Hard-to Reach” people with TB and those at high risk. The TB control staff work within the Communicable Disease Section in collaboration with the HIV/AIDS Program, Substance Abuse Programs, Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Health Centers, and providers throughout the County.
The Award Agreement #29-393-12 which was approved by the Board of Supervisors on December 8, 2009, in an amount not to exceed $331,949, allows the Department to: (1) continue to perform prevention and control activities, and (2) improve completion of appropriate therapy which is essential to decrease TB transmission, prevent the development of drug resistance, and cure TB patents, through June 30, 2010.
The total Award granted above in the amount of $331,949 includes a base grant of $280,681, a base grant augmentation of $21,500 and an additional allotment of $29,768 to be used for food, shelter, incentives and enablers (FSIE). The FSIE allotment will be used to purchase food vouchers and gift cards (i.e., Target, Safeway and Lucky), and rent subsidies consisting of (Safeway = 400 X $10 gift cards, Lucky’s = 400 X $10 gift cards, Target = 150 X $20 gift cards and $18,768 in rent subsidies)
