RECOMMENDATION(S):

ADOPT Resolution No. 2010/6 approving the Side Letter between Contra Costa County and the Public Employees Union, Local One regarding the County's desire to replace, though attrition, Public Service Officers ("PSOs") with Sheriff's Rangers ("Rangers").

FISCAL IMPACT:

No fiscal impact.

BACKGROUND:

Public Employees Union, Local One (Local One) and Contra Costa County (County) determined that it is appropriate to place the classification of Public Service Officers (PSOs) with Sheriff Rangers ("Rangers").

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
With the advent of the Ranger classification, the Office of the Sheriff is now able to provide a service more effectively integrated with law enforcement activities. Therefore, the county and Local One have determined that it is appropriate to eliminate, through attrition, the PSO classification and replace those individuals with Rangers.
